Blood Transfusions – Watchtower “Truth” vs. Fact

According to Lee Elder, Director of AJWRB (Associated Jehovah’s Witness for Reform on Blood), most Jehovah’s Witnesses believe “…blood transfusions are bad medicine and the equivalent of playing Russian Roulette.”

The Watchtower has so thoroughly indoctrinated them about the potential risks of transfusions, even in life and death situations where doctors and emergency technicians have no viable alternatives, “…that the mere thought is totally abhorrent to many of them.”

These irrational fears often persist for years even among former Jehovah’s Witnesses. One can only guess at how many injured and sick Jehovah’s Witnesses and their non-baptized family members have died from lack of proper medical treatment since the mid 1940s when the Watchtower first introduced their “No Blood!” doctrine.

Jehovah’s Witnesses Should be Included in UK Inquiry

PRESS RELEASE –

AAWA: UK Child abuse inquiry “Should include Jehovah’s Witnesses”

Advocates for the Awareness of Watchtower Abuses (AAWA) welcomes the UK’s wide-ranging  public inquiry into historic child abuse in public institutions. We welcome the news that the overarching inquiry, led by an expert panel, will try to bring together the “institutional lessons” not only from the Home Office, but also from the NHS, the BBC, social services and churches for future child protection work.

We have taken note of the comments of Peter Wanless, the Chief Executive of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC), who is leading a review into the Home Office’s handling of abuse allegations:

“If someone consciously knows that there is a crime committed against a child and does nothing about it because they put the reputation of the organisation above the safety of that child, that should be a criminal offence.”

We welcome this concept and ask the inquiry to include an investigation into Jehovah’s Witnesses. They have documented policies that are designed to protect the organization at the expense of their child abuse victims.

JW Elder Convicted in UK Court – Coverup Revealed

After the Mark Sewell conviction:  Abuse survivors across the world – Step forward and speak out!!!

Courageous abuse survivors should take some comfort with the June 27, 2014 conviction of another Jehovah’s Witness elder, this time in the UK.

Sewell-2Fifty-three year old Mark Sewell from Barry, Wales was found guilty of rape and seven counts of indecent assault, one against a child.

AAWA feels that the rulings in this particular court case are historic in the sense that most sex crimes committed against Jehovah’s Witness children and women have often gone unpunished. Why? Because of a unique set of circumstances controlled and enforced by the Governing Body of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. This may no longer be the case after the historic Sewell trial.

Many people who have had their families taken from them will take this opportunity to remember and to call for a change to Jehovah’s Witnesses’ shunning policies that undermine private family relationships – a human right given to all.

If this is love…

hypocrite - stockHow many times have you heard the scripture quoted that says we must “love our neighbor as ourselves?”

It’s one of those scriptures that most people have heard regardless of their religious affiliation. It’s one of those verses that goes hand in hand with the Gospels’ “Golden Rule” to “do unto others as you would have done to you”—a teaching common to many traditions.

In this vein, a recent Watchtower article about “loving one’s neighbor” referenced the scripture at 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, which defines “love” that went on to state:

Just as God has shown patience and kindness in dealing with imperfect humans, we must be patient and kind when others make mistakes and are thoughtless, or even rude.
